Cuckoo voted top for customer service on Money Saving Expert

In a national poll of over 20,000 respondents we have scored 9.7/10 for customer service by our customers.

Working for a startup means that everyday is different. Typically my day involves answering customer queries and troubleshooting faults. The first chunk of my day I spend working through emails and liaising with our network provider to make sure that any customers with connection issues are back up and running as soon as possible.

My afternoons are spent balancing emails and calls from our customers and answering any queries they may have. These range from “How can I pay my bill?” To “I’ve accidentally cut my phone line, help!”

On-top of my typical duties I often take part in different training sessions. This is one of my favourite things about the role as it means I am constantly improving my knowledge and skills. Training involves anything from how we can do more to help our vulnerable customers to gaining more in-depth knowledge about the Openreach network from our in-house engineer.

Every afternoon we have a team meeting which is essential for a remote team. This a chance to vent any frustrations, chit-chat about how we’ve been feeling and play the occasional game (Scriblio is a team favourite).

What do you love about working for Cuckoo?

The people! Both my colleagues and customers are what makes my job so enjoyable. I am surrounded by such passionate and talented people which means that I am constantly learning new things. As we’re such a small team I spend time with colleagues across  different departments (brand, tech, corporate) that I would never have even spoken to in a bigger company.

And obviously the customers are a huge part of my job. I love engaging with a multitude of different personalities and love helping them to get the most out of our service.

Everyone at Cuckoo is focused solely on the customer and making broadband frictionless for our customers. It is refreshing to be surrounded by colleagues who genuinely care so much!

What have you learnt since joining Cuckoo?

So much! I’ll be the first to admit that I knew very little about broadband before joining Cuckoo in August. The onboarding process was amazing but involved a lot of information plugging which admittedly left me feeling a little overwhelmed. However I adapted very quickly and this was mainly due to the support from my incredible team. I learnt that there is definitely no such thing as a stupid question and there wasn’t one team member who wasn’t there if I needed to reach out for guidance.

Sometimes a customer has started off really angry or frustrated and we're able to turn it around into a positive experience where the customer is happy and their faith is restored.

I'm a customer service representative for Cuckoo. It involves helping customers everyday, making sure that their broadband is up and working. And if there's an issue we try and fix it as quickly as possible. 

The thing I enjoy most about my role is the feeling you get when you've have a long call with a customer and you can sort everything out for them. Sometimes a customer has started off really angry or frustrated and we're able to turn it around into a positive experience where the customer is happy and their faith is restored.

Well, when you see it you'll know what it is, especially if your fan. It's a replica Eurovision trophy!

It just signifies something I've watched for years, something I've connected with for years, just because of the inclusivity of the whole event. It brings back loads of memories of watching it with friends and family. 

Music is my life pretty much. I used to sing in school productions.

What is the worst haircut you've ever had?

I once died my hair blue, it was a really deep midnight blue. But my hair started to get really long and I look like an Elvis impersonator because of hair dark and how long it got. 

If I had to pick one it would be a bearded dragon. A Youtuber I watch - a lot of - he had a bearded dragon called Steeve. It was always interesting watching the way the eat and the way they walk around. It's really cool to look at.

MoneySavingExpert ran their latest poll and we’re chuffed that our customers ranked us the highest among some pretty big names. So why not give us a try? 

We launched Cuckoo in July last year with a very simple product. One single deal. One single price. One month rolling contract. One percent of people’s bills getting internet to people in need.

And we’ve focused on one thing for the thousands of people who have chosen to switch to us. Making our service great.

We’ve done this by hiring great people and building great tools. Our service team have experience on the ground as Openreach engineers, helping the police answer emergency calls and also in challenger banks such as Monzo. And the software tools we’re building are focused on making our customers and service team’s lives easier.

Through the Cuckoo Compass we’re about to connect a library in Western Ghana with fast Wi-Fi. We hope that over 20,000 people in the community will be impacted through improved education outcomes and access to resources.

We’re still so early in the life of our business and there’s so much more we want to do. So we’ll continue to strive onwards in our mission to make the internet frictionless.

We’ve just been rated the top broadband provider in the country for customer service, with a whopping 98% voting us “Great”.
